Getting Started

The Pony Activity Center offers beginner, advanced beginner, and intermediate instruction. Beginner lessons cover rules, body position, footwork, serves, returns, drop shots, dinks, and doubles strategy with no prerequisites. Players may bring a paddle or borrow one from the facility.

Players seeking private local instruction can also use the Coaches section. Beginner open play at the activity center is the clearest follow on option because the session is separated from players rated 3.5 and above.

Open Play and Events

The Pony Activity Center 2026 and 2027 indoor season begins October 12. Pre-registration is required and opens seven days before each session, at 8 AM for Stillwater School District residents and noon for nonresidents. The paddle holders rotate groups of four, every player rotates when others are waiting, and games go to 11, win by two.

Outdoor city courts operate with a similar game based rotation when busy. Northland is the strongest local lead for community play, while Staples and Lily Lake provide additional public court capacity. Indoor sessions are the more predictable choice during cold weather because they are divided by ability and capacity is managed through registration.

Visiting Stillwater

In warm weather, a solo visitor can use Northland Park and enter the posted rotation. A group with partners can choose Northland, Staples, or Lily Lake based on location and court activity. Keep warmup short and expect all four players to leave after a completed game when others are waiting.

From October through the school year, visitors can pre-register for the Pony Activity Center with a $6 day pass. Select the session matching current ability, bring a ball and paddle if possible, and use the paddle holders to rotate into games. Private court rentals cost $20 per hour and require the reserving player to hold a PAC membership.
